Julian Vickers is CEO of the Natural Resources Global (NRG) Capital Group. Julian has spent over 30 years in the Natural Resources sector and his career spans Investment Banking, Management Consulting and Industry. Prior to founding NRG, Julian was Global Co-Head of Natural Resources Investment Banking for Barclays, responsible for the Mining & Metals, Oil & Gas and Chemicals businesses of the bank, and was a member of the Investment Bank's Operating Committee in EMEA. Prior to 2009, Julian was Global Head of Energy Investment Banking for Citi, where he worked in the Energy sector for 12 years. During his career as an Investment Banker, Julian has advised on over 50 completed Acquisition and Divestment transactions in the Oil & Gas, Mining & Metals and Renewable Energy sectors and he has developed a broad range of Equity, Debt and Structured financing experience. Prior to 1997, Julian was a Strategic Management Consultant with McKinsey & Company, where he focused on Strategy Development, M&A Strategies, Performance Improvement and Post Merger Integration. He began his career in Natural Resources as an Exploration Geologist with Cominco, where he worked for 7 years on projects in North America, Europe and Asia.
Julian holds a MBA from the London Business School, a First Class Honours Degree in Mining Geology from Imperial College, London, and is an Associate of the Royal School of Mines.
Mick has over 30 years of investment banking experience in the Mining & Metals sector. Prior to co-founding NRG Capital Partners, he led the CIBC EMEA Mining Team and was a member of the European Business and Deal Committees. Mick has led and been involved in some of largest mergers, acquisitions and fundraisings in the mining sector and holds strong relationships across the sector. He has extensive capital markets experience in the natural resources sector having been at 2 global investment banks, CIBC and HSBC. Mick has also worked as a mining engineer and has 8 years of managerial experience in precious and base metals operations, including section manager positions at Kloof Gold Mine and Konkola Copper Mine. Recently, Mick served as a Non-Executive Director on the board of Banro Corporation.
Mick holds a MBA from the University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa and a BSc from Nottingham University in Mining & Geology.
Tuikku has over 16 years of investment banking experience in the Oil & Gas sector. Prior to co-founding NRG Capital Partners, Tuikku led Oil & Gas M&A execution at Barclays Capital’s London office for 5 years. She also worked in Oil & Gas M&A at Citigroup’s EMEA Energy investment banking team for 8 years. Tuikku has global transaction and project experience spanning large international and national Oil & Gas; E&P and R&M companies as well as European utilities with upstream operations. Tuikku has advised on a broad range of M&A, debt, and equity transactions across the oil & gas value chain (downstream / midstream / upstream).
Tuikku graduated from the Cass Business School with an MSc in Finance. She is fluent in English and Finnish.
Ariel has over 14 years of of investment banking experience in the metals & mining sector. Prior to joining NRG Capital Partners, Ariel was a Director in Macquarie Capital’s London office for 5 years covering a range of clients from the global major mining companies to the junior and mid-cap space. Before Macquarie Capital, Ariel spent the prior 9 years working at RBC Capital Markets initially in the Mergers & Acquisitions team in Toronto before moving to London in 2006 to join the Metals & Mining sector team. Ariel has worked on a range of advisory assignments including M&A, strategic advisory and capital raising (debt, equity and mezzanine financing) across most metals sub-sectors (precious, base, bulks, niche metals / diamonds).
Ariel is a graduate from the University of Toronto holding a Bachelor of Commerce degree with a specialist in finance and economics.
